Retro Class Rules
This class is limited to trucks that recreate the pinnacle of vintage monster truck racing in the 1980's and 1990's.

All rules and class criteria are subject to change at any time due to space or to better fit our racing format. Current specifications will always be posted here and at our current racing venue.
*Motor and gearing rules are tentative. We will experiment with different gearing and motor options if there is a performance gap.
IF WE DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH ENTRIES TO RUN A RESPECTABLE RETRO CLASS, ENTRIES WILL BE ADDED TO SPORT CLASS RACING BRACKETS
Body
Classically-Styled bodies only (1990 model year and older). Does not have to be a replica but must be period appropriate.
Chassis
Any “Era Correct” stock or competition chassis is legal. No tube chassis allowed. (Stock clod, J Concepts Regulator, Freestyle Axis Retro, etc)
Axles
Vehicles must have 2 Solid Axles. Motor on shaft-driven axle (MOA/Clod-Buster) (Axial AR60) gearboxes are legal.
Wheels & Tires
Any Chevron tread, full tread only. No cut or shaved tires. No physical or chemical alteration of tires will be allowed. No traction or cleaning compounds allowed at any time (tire saucing). Must run a “Clod” Style 2.6 wheel. 2.2 size monster truck wheel and tire allowed on appropriate vehicles. LMT wheels prohibited from this class.
Legal Tires- J Concepts Dual Tractor, Firestorm and Goldyear, Golden 73, & RC4WD B&H.
Prohibited Tires- Proline Destroyers, Devastators, and Demolishers, RC4WD Rumbles, J Concepts Renegades & JCT's, Losi LMT.
Wheelbase/Width
Wheelbase- no limit.
Width limit- 15.4 inches.
Motor Specifications & Gearing
-Clodbuster and other Tamiya (TXT-1, Superclod, Juggernaut, and shaft-driven trucks) must run 27T motors with 13t pinions.
-Two motor limit

7.4V 2S Lipo only (100c Limit)

No limitations
Shocks
No limitations
Suspension
No 4-link, sway bars or brackets, or links of any kind. (Exception: Stock TXT-1 and Juggernaut suspension). Friction springs, Oil shocks, and leaf springs are legal.
